Cannaregio light

In this evocative landscape painting, I have painted the enchanting canals of Cannaregio in Venice. I make frequent trips to Venice, to paint en plein air, and also to collect images for more detailed paintings, like this one.  The whole scene here takes place under the warm embrace of morning sunshine. The scene bustles with activity as moored boats and a vaporetto navigate the canal’s azure waters.

The heart of the painting is the canal itself, which becomes a mirror to the morning sun, reflecting its golden rays with a captivating radiance. This reflection adds depth and luminosity to the composition, capturing the essence of a Venetian morning.
