In this plein air painting I wanted to capture a calm countryside scene.  I visited Huntington Castle grounds, in Clonegall, as part of the ‘Art in the open’ festival.  In the picture, bright green fields fill the foreground, where a simple fence line separates the grassy areas. A small flock of white sheep are dotted across the middle field, grazing peacefully. Beyond the fields, larger green hills rise up into a soft, grey sky. The painting has bold colors and thick brushstrokes, which give the feeling of a real outdoor moment.
